A U.S.-accredited medical school (LCME for MDs, COCA for DOs) is a prerequisite.
International Graduate: You need to be certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and hold an MBBS or its equivalent.
Three steps make up the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE):

Step 3:
Determines if, following residency, you are capable of practicing medicine without supervision.
